Welcome to Dalbekk

A cabin area with a strong local identity and a long shared history

Dalbekk Vel was established to safeguard shared interests in the area, and the place still reflects good cabin traditions, volunteer work and a strong sense of community.

The association at a glance

Dalbekk feels remote in the forest, yet still close to everyday practical needs

Dalbekk Forest is a harmoniously placed cabin area with 59 cabins, stretching from just below Lilloseter to Skredderudtjern. The cabins are well maintained, several have stayed in the same families for generations, and the sense of community is clear.

This site is made for members of the association, but also for others who want to get to know the place better. Here you will find practical information for people who use the cabins, as well as a clearer sense of what Dalbekk represents for visitors and new readers.

The association exists to promote the shared interests of both the members and the place itself. Over time this has meant working on the road, electricity and cabin water supply, while also supporting a good cabin and outdoor life in an area that many people feel strongly attached to.

Historical milestones

The timeline shows a few brief moments in the development of the association: Dalbekk was built step by step through shared effort and practical needs.

1966

First recorded year. Even then, road access and electricity were central topics for the 18 cabin representatives who took part.

Volunteer work

Major shared improvements were completed together. Over the years, a great many volunteer hours were invested to establish common solutions.

Water

Household water was extended. Cabins that wanted it eventually received water to the outside wall from Nordre Aurevannsputten.

Generations

The cabins became part of family life. Several places in Dalbekk have stayed within the same families across generations.

Recent years

Major technical upgrades continued. Projects mentioned include replacement of poles and power lines as another significant shared effort.

Older content collected into clearer categories

Information that was previously spread across several short pages is now gathered into three main themes: community, formal matters and everyday life in the forest.

Community

An association for shared interests

Its purpose has always been to take care of what members share: the place, the infrastructure and the development of the area.

Formal matters

Membership fees, annual meeting and rules

The yearly cycle and the rules create the framework for how the association is organised and how shared costs and responsibilities are distributed.

Forest life

Swimming spots, fishing and nearby walks

Swimming, berries, mushrooms, fishing and map-and-compass walks are all important parts of having a cabin in Dalbekk.
